I have to say that by this track, this puts you as the favorite in the group to move on. Very impressed with the production and energy of this. I can tell this is going to be tough no doubt, but I'm looking forward to it :)
Respect

PirateCrab responds:

Sir, are you mad? When I listened to your track, all I could feel was raw, powerful emotion. Something I can't really achieve with my style! This group alone will be tough, let alone the rest of the competition. Much respect pal and best of luck!

;-)
I will definitely use this as inspiration next time I dabble in dark, ambient stuff. Loved the beginning. Only thing that I wasn’t sure about was that arppegiated synth in the distance as it was a little too familiar, but I did like the choice in using it in this context.

Chemiqals responds:

Glad you enjoyed it! ^_^

I’m currently listening to this at work. Just wanted to say that I don’t typically listen to the style too often as I get bored with it, but you have a great sense of melody with harmony that this kept me quite interested in. Enjoyed this one mate.

Wo! that got intense on my headphones-- Great atmosphere you created.
Loved how the beginning set the mood.
The panning arpeggios and the distorted melody really hit home. Could have used more of that.
However, the ending was very serene with a touch of Pink Floyd.

The melodic instrument at around :55 has a good melodic contour that reminds me a bit of jazz, but I never was a fan of that timbre. But it wasn't overbearing and the distorted lead really made up for that.
Truly enjoyed this one!

johnfn responds:

Thanks for leaving some thoughts! Yea I have yet to find a synth that can match the timbre of Floyd's nice guitar tones... sigh. The FM stuff is probably a little too chippy and sharp for this piece I guess.

I'm glad you liked it though.

fav'd a minute through. Very enjoyable--the type of thing that can gather my thoughts

Damn good start. Subtle in theme yet it grabbed my attention and was intrigued throughout. Was expecting more and more throughout for the music to make a turn somewhere. Just the sort of thing you and I would want from a track in the style like this :)

I’ll take It, thank you!
Very chill track with a touch of mysteriousness.
This style of writing of the heartgrinder is near & dear to me like in the slumber pieces.

ZLEAP responds:

I thank you friend.

I've been working on new sounds/expressions.

Stay tuned.

You sure do know how to create beautifully horror works.
I will think of you if I ever come across a developer looking for music...

ZLEAP responds:

Something you should know about this "song"

Most of these sounds were created by ripping apart on old piano from 1910.

"the death of something beautiful"

And who's to say I don't have a project in the works already? But one after this would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks, friend.

The atmosphere is quite remarkable. I'm just sitting here listening to this while smiling.
I really don't know what to say but to let you know that this is great.
Transfixed...

samulis responds:

Haha, that's awesome! :D

I don't really do much stuff in this sort of style, psyched to know it came out good enough for the Phonometrologist.

very interesting-- Kept my ears intrigued throughout as you get a nice tone compositionally from the piano. If it's only the piano, you're pretty safe without using a metronome. It's when you're adding more instruments to layer it where it becomes a problem. I often take this approach.
Good piece

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for checking by! I listened to "Tomorrow's Lullaby" yesterday, and I loved it!
I'm glad you liked this odd piece of mine. The thing is, I actually did add another instrument (a vibraphone), but it blends in with the piano because of all the reverb. I played both of the instruments in one recording each, which would've been much easier had I used a metronome. Tons of reverb covered it up pretty well though :p

Thanks a lot for the review!
